"No-Delete" Permissions in CloudDrive

Cloud Drive permissions work hierarchically.
  • If you shared the entire main library or parent folder with that user and gave them full "Read/Write" access, they have a blanket permission to delete things.
  • Unticking the "Delete" box on a subfolder inside that library later will not strip away the broader power they already hold from the parent level. To restrict deletions, you must restrict the permission from the very top level where you first shared it with them.

To completely prevent users from deleting folders, you need to use Custom Permissions feature, but you must apply it correctly at the very highest level where the share begins.
Do not use the standard "Read/Write" option. Instead, you must create a custom rule:

1. Go to your Coud Drice Web Portal (disk. or disk2.)2. Hover over the Library or Folder you want to share and click the Share icon.3. Choose your share target (e.g., Share to User or Share to Group).4. In the permission dropdown, select Custom Permissions.5. A checklist of checkboxes will appear. To block deletions, configure it exactly like this:
✓ Read (Allows them to view and download files)    ✓ Write (Allows them to upload and add files)    ✓ Modify (Allows them to edit existing files)    ✗ Delete (Leave Unticked) (Blocks them from deleting files or folders)
